Money's List of America's best small cities places Eden Prairie, Minnesota at the top. Money's criteria is based on selecting the best place to live for small families, and with a population of 64,000 and an unemployment rate that is half the national average, it sounds like a good place to be.
With the median family income of just under $120,00 and the median age of 36, Eden Prairie sounds like a small town with young families, and, money to spend on 'nice to have' items. Moody's gives the town a triple AAA rating and with three major employers offering 50,000 jobs, the economy is doing better than most.
With residents classed as some of the healthiest in America you know they are taking benefit of the wonderful outdoor activities that are available. Swimming, boating, running, hiking, biking, and, attending Viking's games, are just a few of the offerings.

What makes a city great? For each of us we will no doubt have a different answer. Some people are drawn to a city's history, others to its arts scene. Affordable housing could well be the answer for another. But without people a city is nothing but an empty shell of buildings.
People make a city great. In the way that a city's history is celebrated, in the way that communities come together and work for common goals, a city becomes cohesive and resonates.
Some of the best cities in the world are populated with multi-ethnic communities and the fusion of foods and festivals to celebrate their origins. You only need to look at the annual festivals to get a sense of the vibrancy of big cities: national days of celebration are held everywhere, but not many places have a Greek Festival, an Italian day or Aboriginal Festival.
