GROOMING TIPS FROM CELEBRITY BARBER, DANIEL ROUAH

‘to succeed in life…you have to look sleek ’’ - Daniel Rouah, Celebrity Barber

Stylish, Parisian barber, Daniel Rouah, opened Britain’s first skincare salon for men in 1980 on London’s King’s Road. Everyone tried to discourage him from embarking upon such a radical venture. They all said it would fail.
But they were wrong. His highly successful salon, Chelsea Barbers, proved that British men DO want guidance on how to look and feel good.
Daniel became Britain’s first ‘Celebrity Barber’ with clients such as Richard Branson, Jools Holland, Richard E. Grant, Chris Tarrant and Chris Evans. And he’s appeared in over 350 TV shows including The Big Breakfast, GMTV, This Morning, Good Morning, Kilroy and The Big E.   We are very proud to be able to say he’s a huge fan of the AVID®4 and says ‘’So slim and convenient it's great for travel’’.

And here’s his formula for achieving the perfect shave.
Most men hate having to shave. But Daniel believes shaving should be a pleasure and looked upon as a well deserved opportunity to pamper yourself. A wet shave will always give you the closest possible shave. And there’s a specific order in which to do it.

Always shave before you eat.
When your digestive system is active, the blood circulates much faster and your skin becomes very sensitive

Shower first, then apply moisturising cream.
This soothes the skin and prevents irritation so it’s a very important part of the process.

Next, soften the beard with warm water and a good quality shaving preparation.
Apply it in a circular motion, preferably with a brush, to make the beard bristles stand out from the face.

NOW, and only now, can the razor do its job.
Shave in the direction in which the hairs grow. Shaving in the wrong direction pulls the hairs, which inflames the roots, causing irritation and reddening of the skin.

Dry the skin and finish off with another application of moisturiser.
Aftershave is definitely NOT for use on a freshly shaven face. It just inflames the skin. But if you can’t leave the house without it, dab it on the back of your neck or spray it onto your hair.
